We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead the financial operations of a growing construction business in Burlington, Massachusetts. This position plays a central role in maintaining accurate reporting, guiding project-level financial performance, and supporting sound business decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong construction accounting expertise, a practical leadership style, and the ability to manage both day-to-day finance activities and long-term planning.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements.
- Manage job costing, project profitability, and WIP reporting.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash flow.
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.
- Coordinate with project managers and ownership on project financial performance.
- Manage banking relationships, audits, insurance, and bonding requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction.
- Strong knowledge of job costing and construction accounting.
- Experience with Sage, Foundation, Viewpoint, or similar accounting software.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
Preferred
- CPA designation.
- Experience in a small business or owner-operated construction environment.
