Material Handler Loader

Location: San Diego, CA
Pay Rate: $23.02/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
No Weekends Required!
Temp-to-Hire Opportunity: Permanent hire after 3-Months at a higher pay rate with excellent Union Benefits and Pension Plan.

Position Overview

We are currently seeking hardworking and dependable Material Handlers/Record Center Specialists to join a growing team in San Diego, CA. This is a highly physical, metrics-driven role ideal for individuals who enjoy staying active throughout the workday and are comfortable working in a warehouse environment that is not fully climate controlled.

Candidates must be comfortable lifting, carrying, rearranging, and moving boxes weighing 30-40 pounds continuously throughout the entire shift, with some items weighing up to 100 pounds. This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, and lifting while maintaining productivity and accuracy standards.

Job Responsibilities

• Process incoming and outgoing orders for files, documents, books, binders, backup tapes, and other materials
• Move, organize, store, retrieve, and arrange storage boxes, bins, and totes
• Lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials weighing up to 100 pounds without assistance
• Load and unload pallets, carts, and trucks manually and with material handling equipment
• Operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other material handling aids
• Use handheld scanners and a proprietary computer system to track inventory and locate materials
• Read labels and accurately process orders
• Load and shrink-wrap pallets
• Climb ladders and safely access stored materials
• Maintain productivity and accuracy in a metrics-driven environment

Physical Requirements

• Frequent walking, standing, kneeling, squatting, stooping, bending, crawling, twisting, and reaching
• Ability to lift and carry 30-40 pounds repeatedly throughout the entire shift
• Ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 100 pounds on a regular basis without assistance
• Comfortable working on concrete and uneven surfaces
• Ability to work in an environment that is not fully climate controlled
• Ability to work independently while meeting daily productivity goals

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse, material handling, record center, distribution, or inventory experience preferred
• Experience with handheld scanners is a plus
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to read and write English
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, productivity-focused environment

Required Safety Footwear

Protective footwear is required and must meet ASTM F2413-11 Standard Specification for Performance Requirements for Protective (Safety) Toe Cap Footwear and have a slip-resistant rating designated as "Better" or "Best."
