Accountants One is partnering with a well-established and reputable organization in the Wholesale industry that is looking to add a Staff Accountant to their team. The Staff Accountant will support the Controller and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end close, preparing reconciliations, assisting with budgeting and forecasting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position interacts across departments and contributes to process improvements that support the organization's continued growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the month-end close process by reviewing general ledger activity and preparing journal entries and supporting schedules.
- Prepare journal entries, account analyses, and monthly balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
- Review financial statements for accuracy and completeness and investigate variances.
- Prepare monthly Budget vs. Actual departmental reporting, including variance analysis, and distribute results to department leaders.
- Contribute to the preparation, development, and review of annual operating budgets and rolling forecasts.
- Support weekly cash flow reporting by ensuring vendor payments are accurately reflected.
- Prepare and file sales tax reports and support compliance requirements.
- Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements, enhanced controls, and automation.
- Respond to internal and external information requests and assist with annual audits and quarterly bank audits as needed.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 1–3 years of accounting experience
- Intermediate Excel skills pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, HLOOKUPs
- Experience with NetSuite ERP is a plus
