We are seeking a dependable and experienced Lead Cook to join our culinary team. This position is scheduled for 70 hours per pay period and is eligible for benefits.

Every other weekend
Every other holiday
Starting wage: $20.01–$23.01 per hour, depending on experience

About the Position
The Lead Cook helps ensure our residents receive enjoyable, well-prepared meals in a welcoming dining environment.
This position is responsible for preparing and cooking meals, helping organize daily kitchen operations, maintaining food-safety and sanitation standards, and supporting the culinary team.
The Lead Cook should be someone who can work independently, stay organized, communicate well with coworkers, and help keep meal service running smoothly.
Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Meal Service
Prepare and cook resident meals according to planned menus and established recipes.
Ensure meals are prepared and served on time.
Prepare food according to sanitation, food-safety, and facility policies.
Set up the dining room, meal trays, food carts, and service areas as needed.
Serve residents in the dining room.
Prepare and deliver snacks as assigned.
Obtain food and supplies needed for upcoming meals.
Help ensure necessary food and supplies are available after each meal service.
Kitchen Leadership & Organization
Help organize daily kitchen duties and meal preparation.
Assist culinary staff with questions and daily assignments.
Help maintain a positive, respectful, and team-focused kitchen environment.
Communicate food, supply, equipment, or meal-service concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
Help make sure kitchen procedures are followed consistently.
Cleaning & Sanitation
Maintain clean and sanitary work areas.
Clean worktables, counters, refrigerators, freezers, equipment, and food-preparation areas.
Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
Return clean items to the proper storage areas.
Sweep and mop kitchen floors.
Remove garbage and keep work areas clean, dry, and free of hazards.
Remove trays and dishes from dining and service areas and return them to the dishwashing area.
Food Storage & Supplies
Receive and properly store food and supplies.
Label and date food items.
Rotate stock using proper food-storage practices.
Help monitor food and supply levels.
Make sure needed items are available for upcoming meals.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
Is 18 years of age or older
Has a positive attitude and works well with others
Is dependable and organized
Is comfortable taking the lead when needed
Has experience preparing and cooking food
Understands the importance of food safety and sanitation
Enjoys working with older adults
Is willing to learn and be part of a team
Previous cooking, senior living, healthcare, restaurant, or food-service experience is preferred.
