Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care for patients undergoing interventional radiology and imaging procedures; include pre-procedure assessment, monitoring, and post-procedure recovery.
- Administer medications, manage IV therapy, monitor vitals, and respond to changes in patient condition; ensure safety and infection control standards are followed.
- Collaborate with radiology technologists and physicians to prepare for procedures, maintain sterile technique, and support equipment setup and turnover.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record; communicate effectively during handoffs to ensure continuity of care.
- Educate patients and families on procedures, expected recovery, and discharge instructions; reinforce safety and post-procedure care.
- Maintain flexibility for on-call shifts and holiday coverage as required by site policy.
Requirements
- Active RN license in Georgia
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in
radiology/interventional radiology nursing (or a closely related imaging specialty)
- Certifications: American Heart Association BLS required; ACLS required; PALS preferred
- Nursing degree from an approved program (AS/BSN acceptable)
- Ability to work in a hospital setting with 10-hour shifts; on-call availability 2–3 shifts per month
- Experience with nursing prep/recovery for IR, CT, US, MRI, NM, and fluoroscopy procedures preferred
