Job Title: General Labor Worker

Job Description

This role involves assembling custom wall, roof, and floor trusses in a fast-paced, production-style environment. You will work from blueprints, use hand tools and tape measures, and collaborate closely with a small team to build high-quality structural components. The work is physically demanding and repetitive, requiring frequent bending, squatting, climbing on and off tables, and working at various angles throughout the shift.

Responsibilities

• Assemble custom wall trusses, roof trusses, and floor trusses according to specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints to ensure accurate assembly of all components.
• Use hand tools, tape measures, and other basic construction tools to assemble trusses and walls.
• Climb on and off tables and platforms throughout the shift to complete assembly tasks.
• Perform repetitive assembly of the same truss or wall 10 or more times before switching to a different build.
• Bend, stoop, squat, and reach at odd angles to position and secure materials correctly.
• Work collaboratively with other team members on a production line to meet daily output goals.
• Follow instructions from leads or supervisors regarding work assignments and production priorities.
• Maintain a clean and organized work station, including tools and materials.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines, including proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective gear.
• Use air tools, particularly on the wall assembly side, to fasten and secure components.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance and communicate schedule issues in accordance with site expectations.

Essential Skills

• Ability to read a tape measure accurately, verified through a tape measure test.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints for construction and assembly tasks.
• Experience using basic hand tools such as hammers and other common construction tools.
• Capability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, twisting, squatting, and climbing on and off platforms.
• Comfort working in a repetitive, production-style environment assembling the same product multiple times.
• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively in a small group on a production line.
• Good attendance and reliability, supported by references.
• Willingness and ability to bring or purchase a hammer for daily use.
• Ability to work assigned shift hours, including long shifts Monday through Thursday and potential work on Fridays.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Preferred: 6+ months of experience using hand tools in a work setting.
• Preferred: 6+ months of experience in construction, general labor, or another physically demanding environment.
• Experience in framing, general construction, or assembly work.
• Experience in general maintenance, drywall, landscaping, or related building trades.
• Comfort working with building materials in an indoor lumber yard environment.
• Ability to adapt to either a more physically nimble role on the truss side or a slightly less active role on the wall side, depending on fit.
• Willingness to use air tools regularly, particularly on the wall assembly side.

Work Environment

You will work in a warehouse-style, indoor lumber yard within a non-climate-controlled, covered building. The facility operates with designated workstations and organized production lines, typically with 2 to 5 people per line and around 60 people per shift. The work is performed on platforms and tables and involves frequent movement around your station. First shift typically runs Monday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with potential work on Fridays depending on production needs. Second shift typically runs Monday through Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., with similar Friday considerations. The dress code includes jeans or shorts (no sweatpants), T-shirts and layers as needed (no cut-offs), and language on clothing must not include profane content. Steel-toe footwear is required, and additional layers are recommended due to the non-climate-controlled environment. You must bring or be prepared to purchase your own hammer. Communication regarding attendance and call-outs follows established site procedures to support smooth shift operations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waverly, NE.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
