Job Description

The Machine Operator sets up, operates, monitors, and maintains packaging machines used in the production of corrugated packaging and paperboard products. This role ensures that production targets, print quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met while performing precise setups, adjustments, and quality inspections. The Machine Operator uses strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills to support efficient, high-quality, and safe manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, monitor, and maintain packaging machines used in the production of corrugated packaging and paperboard products.
• Perform machine setups, including registration, ink adjustments, and alignment of equipment to meet production specifications.
• Install and align print plates, cylinders, dies, and ink systems to support accurate and consistent printing.
• Adjust press settings to achieve proper registration, color consistency, and overall print quality.
• Monitor production runs continuously and perform quality checks throughout the process to ensure products meet standards.
• Troubleshoot machine issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain steady production flow.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on machines to improve reliability and reduce unexpected breakdowns.
• Read and interpret production orders, specifications, and measurements to ensure correct machine setup and output.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area while following established safety procedures and guidelines.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and support process improvements.

Essential Skills

• 2+ years of machine operating experience preferred.
• Demonstrated experience operating production or packaging machinery in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with corrugated packaging, folding carton, or paperboard printing is highly desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret production orders, specifications, and measurements accurately.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform mechanical adjustments and setups.
• Proven troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve machine and process issues.
• Knowledge of color management, ink systems, and print registration.
• Ability to perform changeovers and machine setups efficiently.
• Comfort working with printing and packaging equipment in a fast-paced production setting.

• Hands-on experience with machine setup, changeover, and machine operation.
• Experience in monitoring and maintaining print quality in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices on production machinery.

• Willingness to train on one shift and transition to another as business needs require.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a production team and communicate clearly with colleagues.

Work Environment

You will train on a first-shift schedule, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30/3:30 p.m., and then transition to a 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. schedule after training is complete. The facility offers a climate-controlled, clean environment with ongoing facility expansions and equipment upgrades to support modern, efficient operations. The plant operates on an extended schedule, with 24/7 operations currently on hold but expected to resume, providing exposure to a high-volume, continuous production setting. You will work around advanced packaging and printing equipment in a professional manufacturing environment where safety, cleanliness, and reliability are prioritized.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lawrenceburg, TN.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
