Position Overview

Looking for a steady, high-paying daytime project with weekends off? Join our Team in Knoxville to support a major library relocation at the University of Tennessee campus! Paying $20.00/hour, this project is ideal for organized, detail-oriented individuals who enjoy physical work and precise inventory tracking in a unique academic setting.

Pay Rate: $20/hr. on W2

Duration: 1-month contract (potential renewal)

Schedule: M-F, 8 AM-6 PM (5 days a week including 30-minute lunch and two 15-minute breaks)

What You’ll Do

  • Execute library inventory transfer by carefully retrieving books from shelving, sorting them by size, scanning item barcodes, and loading them onto cart systems.
  • Transport and unload materials by maneuvering rolling library carts (pushing/pulling up to 600 lbs) to loading docks, loading delivery trucks, and staging items at the off-site facility.
  • Assemble and pack book trays by building trays, scanning items to designated trays, logging item counts, and organizing completed trays onto pallets for storage.
  • Handle delicate archival materials with care while strictly following cataloging procedures and safety protocols.

What We’re Looking For

  • Ability to stand/walk up to 8 hours daily, lift up to 20 lbs repetitively, and comfortably bend, squat, and climb library ladders.
  • Ability to follow detailed sorting instructions (such as sorting by book dimensions), scan items accurately, and handle delicate materials carefully.
  • Fluent in reading and speaking English, with basic technical comfort using handheld scanners and inventory logging applications. Manual pallet jack experience is a plus!
  • Willingness to adhere to safety guidelines regarding gloves, hair, jewelry, and nails.
  • High reliability, ability to work independently within library stacks, and a cooperative team attitude.

Workplace: This is a 100% onsite role across University of Tennessee campus facilities (Hoskins Library and a new off-site University building). Work involves maneuvering loaded carts through library stacks, handling paper materials, and loading/unloading dock areas.

Contract Terms: This is a temporary/contract engagement focused on immediate operational support; standard corporate health benefits and paid time off are not provided during the initial contract duration.
