Job Description

Controller

WBE Technologies is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead and strengthen our day-to-day accounting function. This is a leadership role for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in the details, improving processes, and partnering closely with operations and business leadership.

The Controller will oversee the accounting operations of a growing business that includes product sales, inventory, services, purchased and resold services, construction-related services, and project-based work. This position requires a strong operational mindset, solid accounting fundamentals, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with active involvement in daily accounting activities.

This is not a purely strategic or remote leadership position. The successful candidate will be actively engaged in accounting operations, financial reporting, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration while helping establish scalable accounting practices to support continued business growth.

A mandatory requirement for this role is hands-on experience working within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day accounting operations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
  • Oversee the general ledger, chart of accounts, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close process.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting packages.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
  • Manage, optimize, and improve accounting processes within Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Support accurate accounting and reporting for inventory, product sales, service operations, project-based work, and related revenue streams.
  • Analyze profitability, margins, and operational performance across products, services, and projects.
  • Partner with operations and leadership to improve workflows, reporting capabilities, and financial visibility.
  • Oversee payroll accounting, payroll uploads, payroll-related reconciliations, and related accounting processes.
  • Coordinate with payroll providers and support payroll-related accounting activities.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow monitoring, and financial analysis.
  • Support external accountants, auditors, and tax professionals as needed.
  • Develop and maintain scalable accounting processes and reporting structures that support business growth.
  • Mentor and support accounting staff while fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications

  • CPA with Bachelor’s Degree or Masters in Accounting and Finance
  • Strong Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles
  • 5 years prior controller or senior accounting leadership experience.
  • Hands-on experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
  • Experience managing accounting functions within a distribution company environment.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger management, account reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience with inventory accounting and product sales operations.
  • Ability to support accounting activities across products, services, purchased/resold services, and project-based work.
  • Strong understanding of financial analysis, profitability reporting, and operational accounting.
  • Proven ability to identify inefficiencies and improve accounting processes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with leadership, operations teams, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with project profitability analysis and margin reporting.
  • Experience supporting construction services, purchased/resold services, or complex project accounting environments.
  • Experience with ADP payroll systems and payroll accounting processes.
  • Familiarity with payroll uploads, payroll reconciliations, and payroll-related reporting.
  • Experience improving, standardizing, or optimizing accounting processes within an ERP environment.
  • Experience supporting organizations undergoing growth, operational expansion, or process transformation.
Work Location

This position is primarily onsite at our office in Renton, Washington.

  • Expected onsite presence of at least four (4) days per week.
  • One remote workday per week may be available based on business needs and management approval.
  • This role requires regular in-person collaboration with accounting, operations, and leadership teams.
