Job Title: Shipping Lead

Job Description

The Shipping Lead oversees daily manufacturing and shipping activities to ensure products are produced and shipped safely, efficiently, and in alignment with quality standards. This role coordinates workflow on the production floor, supports team members, and helps maintain a smooth, consistent operation across all shifts, with specific focus on either the Arils department or the Juice Extraction department.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily manufacturing and shipping activities to ensure products meet safety, efficiency, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate workflow on the production floor to maintain smooth and consistent operations across all shifts.
  • Monitor hourly production metrics, including case counts, to ensure production and shipping targets are achieved.
  • Read and execute the daily run plan accurately to meet operational and shipping goals.
  • Provide hands-on training and guidance to new hires and returning team members on equipment, workflow procedures, and shipping processes.
  • Support and coach team members in both the Arils department and the Juice Extraction department, as assigned.
  • Enforce adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and all company safety policies on the production floor and in shipping areas.
  • Promote and model a professional, respectful demeanor in all communications with staff and colleagues.
  • Collaborate closely with the supervisor by promptly reporting any employee-related issues or concerns.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts in production, inventory control, and shipping processes.
  • Oversee and support inventory control activities, including cycle counts and warehouse inventory checks.
  • Ensure proper use of ERP systems for inventory management and production tracking.
  • Operate or oversee the safe operation of forklifts and other material-handling equipment as needed.
  • Monitor fast-moving conveyors and equipment to ensure safe and efficient product flow.
  • Assist with mechanical troubleshooting within the scope of the role, leveraging mechanical aptitude to keep lines running.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in shipping, production supervision, or production management within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Hands-on experience with forklift operation in a warehouse or production setting.
  • Experience with inventory control, inventory management, and warehouse inventory processes.
  • Ability to perform and support cycle counts and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems for inventory and production management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and perform reaching, bending, and turning throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work in a cold and wet environment for extended periods.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with other leads, supervisors, and team members.
  • Ability to climb stairs and platforms safely as part of daily duties.
  • Ability to monitor fast-moving conveyors without discomfort and maintain focus on product flow.
  • Mechanical aptitude to understand and support basic equipment operation and troubleshooting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership experience or demonstrated ability to lead and guide a team.
  • Commitment to enforcing and following Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and company safety policies.
  • Professional and respectful communication style when interacting with staff and colleagues.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Buttonwillow, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
