Technique is looking for a Material Handler to join our team at our Jackson, Michigan facility. This position reports to the Materials Manager and is responsible for the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods throughout the facility. The employee will stage materials at work centers according to production schedules, receive and verify incoming shipments, prepare outbound shipments, and maintain accurate inventory records to keep production running on time.
The ideal candidate brings 1–2 years of material handling, warehouse, or manufacturing experience, holds a forklift (hi-lo) license or the ability to obtain certification, and is comfortable using an ERP or inventory system to record material transactions. Strong attention to detail, basic math skills, and the ability to stay organized in a fast-paced shop environment are critical factors in this role.
Responsibilities:
· Move materials – Load, unload, and move raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods throughout the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand carts.
· Stage jobs for production – Stage raw materials and components at work centers according to production schedules and job travelers.
· Receive incoming shipments – Receive incoming shipments, verify counts against packing lists and purchase orders, and inspect materials for damage.
· Maintain inventory accuracy – Perform inventory transactions, cycle counts, and location updates in the ERP system to keep inventory records accurate.
· Prepare outbound shipments – Pick, pack, label, and stage finished goods for shipment per customer and carrier requirements.
· Maintain documentation – Maintain accurate documentation for material movements, receipts, and shipments.
· Keep work areas safe and organized – Maintain clean, safe, and organized warehouse, staging, and shipping areas, following all safety procedures.
· Support production teams – Communicate material shortages or discrepancies to supervision and support production teams as needed.
· Other duties as assigned – Perform other duties as assigned by the Materials Manager.
Requirements:
· High School Diploma or GED
· 1–2 years of material handling, warehouse, or manufacturing experience preferred
· Forklift (hi-lo) license required or ability to obtain certification
· Ability to read job travelers, packing lists, and shipping documents
· Basic computer skills; experience with ERP or inventory systems preferred
· Strong attention to detail and basic math skills
· Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds
· This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the shift
· Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
· Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to fumes or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, moving mechanical parts, industrial equipment, vibration, and loud noise
· No travel required for this position
· Must be eligible to work in the United States
Position Type and Expected Hours:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with a minimum of 40 hours per week with overtime as needed. Note: days and hours required may vary. Shift premiums are available.
Shifts include:
1st Shift – Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
2nd Shift – Monday through Thursday, 3:30 PM to 2:00 AM
