Typical Day in the Role
• Purpose of the Team: The Trusted Technology Group oversees business management and operations, rhythm of business (ROB), forecasting, and planning across teams including Accessibility, Tech for Society, Digital Safety, Privacy, and Enterprise Crisis and Resilience Management. The group works across to help ensure engineering and product teams build products to the standards established by these domains.
• Key projects: The role will own budget and forecasting activities, day-to-day ROB work, executive communications, internal communications, preparation for town halls, reporting, and orchestration of the Trusted Technology Group's overall budget. Drafting communications such as LinkedIn posts and internal/all-company emails may also be part of the role.
• Education: A college degree, such as in business management or a related area.
Candidate Requirements
• Best vs. Average:
Experience in a Business Management or Chief of Staff-type role.
Rhythm of Business (ROB) management experience at the VP or CVP level.
Experience directly supporting a CVP.
Strong budget management experience, including forecasting and variance reporting.
Strong internal/executive communication skills.
Ability to influence and manage stakeholders across the business.
Summary:
The main function of a business development manager is to maintain vendor relationships, acting as a business analyst for non-IT projects or filling organizational roles above an administrative level, but below a management level. Other responsibilities may include maintaining all project management processes, including project goals, deadlines, metrics and budget. The business operations specialist usually reports to a project manager or director.
Job Responsibilities:
• Establish and maintain communication services across business units or from the project team to the organization.
• Maintain the storage and retrieval of all project communications data and business metrics.
• Review contracts, cost proposals and contract supplements.
• Set up project and work breakdown structures.
• Establish and document business processes.
• Track project budgets and expenditures, monitor transaction controls and costs against budgets.
• Predict potential budget overruns and offer solutions.
Skills:
• Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage one's time.
• Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and production methods.
• Ability to apply accounting and mathematical principles to work as needed.
• Ability to analyze business trends and project future revenues and expenses.
• Previous experience with computer applications, such as Word and Excel; Enterprise Application experience a plus.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in business management, economics, finance, accounting, or a relevant field required.
• 10+ years' experience required.
