This position is responsible for leading multiple levels of claims professionals, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and a high standard of customer service across disability, absence management, and supplemental health claims functions.

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Claims Operations Manager to provide strategic leadership and oversight for claims administration teams. This individual will be responsible for developing leaders, improving operational efficiency, managing resources, and ensuring claims are processed accurately and in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is a proven people leader with extensive insurance claims experience and a passion for continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support multiple claims teams, including supervisors and experienced claims professionals
  • Establish performance objectives, monitor results, and drive accountability across the department
  • Ensure claims are handled accurately, consistently, and within established service standards
  • Partner with senior leadership to address escalated claim matters, complex case reviews, and risk-related concerns
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams on claim-related disputes and litigation support activities
  • Evaluate staffing needs, workload trends, and operational metrics to ensure proper resource allocation
  • Develop and mentor leaders within the organization, providing coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities
  • Analyze workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service quality, and customer outcomes
  • Lead departmental initiatives focused on process enhancement, system improvements, and operational excellence
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and exceptional customer service

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6 years of leadership or management experience
  • 7–10 years of insurance industry experience, including significant claims management experience
  • Strong understanding of disability, absence management, life, or supplemental medical claims processes
  • Demonstrated success leading large teams and developing future leaders
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience handling complex claims issues
  • Ability to make sound business decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and other business software platforms
  • Comfortable adapting to new technology and working within digital, paperless environments
