About The Company:
Our client is a growing organization focused on developing its people and strengthening its Learning & Organizational Development function. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with leaders and employees across the organization while helping build and improve learning programs that support business goals.
Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Instructional Designer & Learning Consultant who takes a consultative approach to learning and development. Rather than simply turning provided content into training, this person will investigate the underlying business need, determine the appropriate solution, and manage projects from initial discovery through implementation and evaluation.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, collaborating with stakeholders at all levels, and taking ownership when a project does not come with a clearly defined roadmap.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead instructional design initiatives from initial discovery and analysis through development, launch, and evaluation.
- Partner with subject matter experts, business leaders, and employees to understand performance challenges and learning needs.
- Assess requests for training and determine whether training or another solution will best address the business need.
- Develop engaging learning experiences using eLearning, video, instructor-led training, blended learning, job aids, and other performance-support methods.
- Create polished, accurate, accessible, and user-friendly learning materials.
- Measure the effectiveness of learning programs and make adjustments based on results and feedback.
- Research existing resources, industry practices, and emerging technologies to improve learning solutions.
- Leverage AI and modern learning technologies where they can improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manage multiple projects, stakeholders, and deadlines while maintaining consistent communication.
- Help establish instructional design processes, templates, standards, and best practices within a growing learning function.
- Provide occasional support for learning systems and employee learning initiatives when needed.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of progressive instructional design experience, preferably with experience managing projects through the full design lifecycle.
- Practical knowledge of instructional design methodologies and adult learning principles.
- Experience conducting needs or performance analysis before determining a learning solution.
- Ability to develop learning content across multiple formats and delivery methods.
- Experience creating eLearning, video, instructor-led training materials, job aids, or performance support resources.
- Understanding of accessibility standards and practices, including ADA/WCAG.
- Strong writing, communication, visual design, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Comfortable working with subject matter experts, leadership, and frontline employees.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Experience with modern authoring, multimedia, LMS, and AI-enabled tools.
- Ability to quickly learn new technology and determine which tools are appropriate for a given project.
Additional Details:
- Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, organizational development, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience within transportation, safety, compliance, logistics, manufacturing, field operations, or another regulated/frontline environment is a plus.
- Experience with Articulate 360, Adobe Premiere, ScreenPal, Mentimeter, Paycom Learning, or similar platforms is beneficial.
- Up to 25% travel may be required.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Visa sponsorship is not available.
- Relocation assistance is not available.
- A professional portfolio demonstrating end-to-end instructional design work is required.
Perks:
- Opportunity to have a direct impact on organizational learning initiatives.
- High level of ownership and autonomy.
- Exposure to projects across multiple areas of the business.
- Opportunity to help shape learning processes and best practices.
- Collaborative environment with access to business leaders and subject matter experts.
- Ability to utilize modern learning technologies and AI tools.
