Position Summary:
TheFire Sprinkler Designeris responsible for producing accurate, complete, and code-compliant fire sprinkler system designs that support successful project execution from concept through installation. This position plays a critical role in ensuring projects are designed efficiently, installed correctly, and completed on schedule.

Key Responsibilities
- Review contract drawings, specifications, and project documents to determine the most effective and accurate design approach.
- Design fire sprinkler systems using AutoSPRINK and AutoCAD in compliance with applicable codes, standards, customer requirements, and project specifications.
- Conduct detailed site surveys and field verifications to accurately assess existing conditions prior to design development.
- Ensure all designs are accurate, complete, and code-compliant while meeting project objectives and installation requirements.
- Coordinate sprinkler system layouts with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural trades using overlay methods and BIM coordination to minimize conflicts and rework.
- Maintain full project awareness throughout the design process, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they impact installation, schedule, or budget.
- Prepare complete permit packages, including fire sprinkler plans, hydraulic calculations, seismic bracing calculations, and material submittals for Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), general contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Respond promptly and professionally to AHJ comments, plan review feedback, and permit revision requests.
- Generate accurate material takeoffs, fabrication lists, and stock lists based on approved designs and verified field conditions.
- Coordinate material procurement and ordering with vendors to support project schedules and installation requirements.
- Prepare clear, complete, and accurate installation drawings, fabrication reports, and related documentation for field personnel.
- Provide technical support to field teams during installation by answering design-related questions and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Communicate design changes, scope revisions, and any potential impacts to labor, cost, or schedule to the Project Manager and Estimator.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, estimators, field supervisors, customers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customers, project teams, field personnel, vendors, and AHJs.
- Maintain organized and accurate project documentation throughout all phases of a project.
- Prepare and deliver complete, accurate, and timely closeout documentation upon project completion.
- Stay current with NFPA standards, industry best practices, emerging technologies, and fire sprinkler design methodologies to continuously improve design quality and efficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET Level I or II Certification in Water-Based Systems Layout.
- Experience with BIM, 3D modeling, and clash detection coordination.
- Experience preparing hydraulic calculations, seismic bracing calculations, and permit packages.
- Familiarity with AHJ permitting and plan review processes.
- Experience generating fabrication lists, material takeoffs, and installation drawings.
- Knowledge of local fire and building codes in addition to NFPA standards.
- NICET Level III Certification in Water-Based Systems Layout.
