Job Description

Job Description

At Terrasat Communications, Inc., we design and manufacture next-generation satellite communications ground segment technologies. From high-power Block Upconverters (BUCs) to intelligent Redundant Control Systems (1:1 and 1:2), our hardware powers mission-critical uplink networks worldwide across C-band, X-band, Ku-band, and Ka-band frequencies.

We are seeking a specialized Technical Writer to own the creation, restructuring, and maintenance of our comprehensive Product Operations Manuals. If you know how to build a user guide that field technicians can rely on in critical moments, we want you on our team.

What You’ll Do

Your primary mission is to deliver flawless, field-ready Operations Manuals that guide end-users through deployment, active configuration, and emergency troubleshooting:

  • Author Operations Manuals: Write end-to-end user manuals for our multi-band BUC lines and redundant systems, ensuring clear step-by-step instructions for installation, initial calibration, and daily operation.
  • Document Redundancy & Failover: Clearly map out complex operational procedures for 1:1 and 1:2 redundant switch configurations, defining exactly how field operators monitor, configure, and override automated failovers.
  • Write Command & Control Guides: Document the software/firmware interaction side of operations, including step-by-step GUI navigation, CLI commands, and SNMP/Modbus remote monitoring setups.
  • Translate Engineering Schematics: Convert complex wiring diagrams, RF signal paths, and mechanical blueprints into user-friendly block diagrams embedded directly within the manual.

What We Are Looking For

  • SatCom/RF Domain Expertise: 2-4+ years of experience writing system-level Operations Manuals for hardware in telecommunications, satcom, aerospace, or defense electronics.
  • Expert FrameMaker Skills: Deep proficiency in Adobe FrameMaker is a strict requirement. You must have proven experience managing large, multi-chapter books, condition tags, custom variables, and structured/unstructured cross-references.
  • Safety Documentation Standards: Demonstrated experience integrating high-power electrical, thermal, and RF radiation safety hazards/warnings (ANSI/IEEE compliant) into user literature.
  • Portfolio Requirement: Writing samples consisting specifically of published Operations Manuals, User Guides, or Field Maintenance Manuals for complex electronic hardware.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Compensation: Base salary + discretionary performance bonuses.
  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Retirement Security: 401(k) program including Safe Harbor and profit Sharing.
  • Tools & Gear: A dedicated technical writing workstation with full Adobe Technical Communication Suite licensing.
