Design Hire is supporting an established utility engineering team seeking a Distribution Engineer to contribute to complex Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects and reliable infrastructure solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineering professionals on projects that support safe, efficient, and constructible electrical systems. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and experience supporting utility clients and field-driven design needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop overhead electrical design packages, technical drawings, and construction documents for utility distribution projects.
  • Perform engineering calculations, structural assessments, and quantity takeoffs to support project design and construction.
  • Produce and maintain detailed plan production deliverables while ensuring drawing packages meet project and client requirements.
  • Analyze construction and operational problems, identify practical solutions, and coordinate technical revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform quality assurance (QA) reviews of drawings and calculations and assist with scope and fee development for assigned work.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, O-Calc, or Spida Calc.
  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution design and utility engineering practices.
  • Familiarity with local electrical codes, GO95, NESC (National Electrical Safety Code), IEEE, and ASCE standards.
  • Ability to interpret and apply client and industry standards to engineering deliverables.
  • EIT certification is preferred.
  • SDG&E experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and technical documentation skills.
