Freight Brokerage Operations Coordinator
Full-time | In person | Humble, TX 77396
$60,000-$70,000 base salary, based on experience, plus performance bonus opportunity.
We are hiring an experienced freight brokerage operator who can independently quote customer loads, negotiate carrier rates, and secure reliable trucks. You should be comfortable owning a load from the initial quote through delivery, protecting margin, and keeping customers informed without constant supervision.
This position requires at least 2 years of hands-on freight brokerage experience. You must have personally priced loads and booked outside carriers. Dispatching company-owned trucks or tracking shipments alone does not meet this requirement.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Build timely, competitive customer quotes using current market conditions, lane history, equipment requirements, and carrier feedback.
- Source and negotiate with qualified carriers, book capacity, and cover loads while protecting gross profit and service quality.
- Confirm shipment details, equipment, pickup and delivery requirements, and accessorial charges before booking.
- Follow carrier qualification procedures, verify authority and insurance, and recognize fraud and double-brokering warning signs.
- Manage load execution from pickup through delivery, maintain accurate TMS records, and obtain required shipment documents.
- Proactively communicate with customers and carriers, resolve delays and truck fallouts, and escalate issues early.
- Develop repeat carrier relationships and dependable capacity on recurring lanes.
WHAT YOU NEED
- At least 2 years of freight brokerage experience with direct responsibility for quoting loads and booking carriers.
- Proven ability to negotiate rates, calculate gross profit and margin, and make sound pricing decisions.
- Working experience with load boards such as DAT or Truckstop and a transportation management system.
- Strong phone and email communication, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple active loads.
- Ability to work onsite in Humble, TX 77396.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Hotshot, flatbed, open-deck, or specialized freight.
- Alvys or a comparable TMS.
- An established network of reliable carriers.
COMPENSATION
Base salary of $60,000-$70,000 annually, depending on relevant experience and demonstrated ability. Performance bonus opportunity tied to profitability and service results; details will be discussed during the interview process.
