Job Description
Responsible for assembling, modifying, and reworking printed circuit cards in a high-mix, low-volume lab environment to support prototype and small-batch builds. Performs hand soldering of through-hole and surface-mount components, operating surface mount machines, coating, rework, and touch-up using standard assembly tools, equipment, and work instructions.
Verifies workmanship to applicable quality standards, documents build issues, and collaborates with engineering to resolve design or manufacturability concerns. Maintains an organized lab workspace, manages materials carefully, and supports quick-turn development efforts with flexibility, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Essential Functions
- Completes circuit card assembly operations on various electronic products while ensuring compliance with required performance specifications.
- Ability to work from both oral and written instructions, engineering drawings, blueprints, supporting surface mount and through-hole circuit cards and their applicable components.
- Documents assembly data and results and provides documentation of failed products.
- Implements assembly methods, tooling, and aids required to achieve special design engineering requirements.
- Maintains professional standards of performance, demeanor, and judgment at all times as detailed in company policy and procedure.
- Must be able to work under a microscope for long periods of time.
- Supports OT as needed to meet schedule requirements and business needs.
- Maintains sound communication and documentation skills to ensure efforts are properly recorded, in unison with customer and quality expectations.
- Obtains COMSEC training.
- IPC 610, J-STD, and Space Addendum certifications required. Employer will provide certification training.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent, with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience, OR
- 2 years of post-secondary/Associate's Degree with a minimum of 0–2 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance as required.
- U.S. Citizenship Required.
Must-Have Skills
- Soldering skills required.
- Knowledge of J-STD and IPC 610 standards. Certification training will be provided by the employer.
- Ability to use small hand tools.
- Torque tool experience required.
- Some SMT (Surface Mount Technology) experience.
- Ability to work under a microscope for extended periods.
- Experience with electronics manufacturing processes.
- Experience with ESD practices.
Preferred Additional Skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and personal computing devices.
- Proficiency in multiple electronics manufacturing processes, including soldering, hand tools, and ESD practices.
- Experience with surface mount technology.
