Responsibilities:

The Manufacturing Engineerwillsupport the design, development, testing, and continuous improvement of pit dock products and engineered loading-dock solutions. This role partners closely with manufacturing, sales, quality, and cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, cost-effective, and scalable products.

  • Lead research, design, and product-development activities for pit dock products, including new product designs, product enhancements, and custom-engineered solutions.
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings, design calculations, technical specifications, and supporting documentation.
  • Perform engineering analysis, including finite element analysis (FEA), to validate product performance, safety, and structural integrity.
  • Support prototype assembly, testing, validation, and pre-production builds; capture design and manufacturing lessons learned for incorporation into final product designs.
  • Work with Manufacturing Engineering to ensure designs are practical to manufacture, cost-effective, scalable, and aligned with production capabilities.
  • Drive design changes and continuous-improvement initiatives that improve manufacturability, product quality, reliability, and overall performance.
  • Use field feedback, warranty information, and quality data to identify opportunities for product improvements.
  • Support product standardization, platform development, and configuration optimization efforts.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards, safety requirements, and performance specifications.
  • Create, maintain, and revise bills of materials (BOMs) within the MRP/ERP system.
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineering to prepare approval drawings, technical information, and cost estimates for customer applications.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to support product launches, product updates, and engineering change implementation.
  • Track project timelines, progress, and workload using project-management software.
  • Analyze engineering and operational data and prepare reports as needed.
  • Follow safe work practices, use required personal protective equipment, and report hazards, safety concerns, or policy violations promptly.
  • Participate in required health and safety training and serve as a positive example to junior team members.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Location:Fairdale, KY

Schedule/Shift Details:7am-3:30pm, M-F

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technical Sciences, or a related technical discipline; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Five or more years of engineering experience preferred, ideally within material-handling equipment, loading-dock systems, or a related industrial-manufacturing environment.
  • At least three years of experience using SolidWorks CAD.
  • Experience developing mechanical products from concept through prototype, validation, and production release.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering design principles, mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and design-for-manufacturability practices.
  • Technical familiarity with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical components.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and analysis, including FEA.
  • Experience creating and maintaining BOMs and working within an MRP or ERP system; experience with Visual/Epicor is preferred.
  • Knowledge of quality-control methods, product qualification requirements, and continuous-improvement practices.
  • Familiarity with configuration management, data management, and ISO 9001 quality systems is an asset.
  • Previous experience with dock lifts, dock levelers, vehicle restraints, or related loading-dock equipment is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer designation, or progress toward a P.Eng., is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound engineering judgment and a practical, risk-based approach to decision-making.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to consistently produce accurate work.
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with sales, manufacturing, customers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to analyze data, develop reports, and communicate technical findings clearly.
  • Willingness to work in accordance with applicable occupational health and safety regulations and internal safety procedures.
