GAS HOUSE OPERATOR
Automation Personnel Services is looking for aGas House Operatorfor a company based inOlive Branch,MS.The Gas House Operator is responsible for safely operating, monitoring, and maintaining equipment used to transfer, control, and supply gases and chemical materials required in the adhesive manufacturing and packaging process. This position works in a safety-sensitive manufacturing environment and requires strict adherence to procedures for handling flammable and hazardous materials.
Pay Rate
$19.00- $22.00per hour(Depending on experience)
Schedule and Hours
Friday - Sunday, 8:00 am to8:00 pm.
Gas House OperatorDuties and Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor gas house equipment used to support adhesive manufacturing and production operations.
- Operatepumps, valves, regulators, hoses, gauges, tanks, piping and material-transfer equipment.
- Connect and disconnect hoses, lines and fittings for the safe transfer of gases and production materials.
- Monitorpressure, temperature, flow rates, tank levels and equipment gauges.
- Adjust valves, regulators and controls to maintain proper pressure and material flow.
- Transfer gases and other required materials to designated production or filling equipment.
- Monitor equipment continuously to identifyleaks, pressure changes, unusual readings or equipment malfunctions.
- Inspect hoses, fittings, valves, gauges and connections before and during operation.
- Follow established procedures forequipment startup, operation, changeover and shutdown.
- Follow proper procedures for handlingflammable, combustible and hazardous materials.
- Read and followSafety Data Sheets (SDS), chemical labels, work instructions and safety procedures.
- Wear all requiredpersonal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow plant safety procedures, includingLockout/Tagout (LOTO)when applicable and authorized.
- Immediately report gas leaks, chemical spills, damaged equipment and other unsafe conditions.
- Complete production logs, equipment readings, inspection records and material-transfer documentation.
- Perform routine housekeeping to keep the Gas Houseclean, organized and free of hazards.
- Assist with basic equipment troubleshooting and report mechanical problems to Maintenance or supervision.
- Coordinate withBatch Makers, Production Assistants, Machine Operators, Maintenance and supervisorsto maintain production flow.
- Follow emergency-response procedures in the event of a leak, spill, alarm or equipment failure.
- Perform additional production and material-handling duties as assigned.
Gas House OperatorQualificationsandRequirements
- High school diploma or GEDpreferred.
- Previousmanufacturing, production, chemical processing or industrial experience preferred.
- Experience working withpumps, valves, hoses, tanks, gauges or pressure systemsis highly desirable.
- Chemical manufacturing,tank farm, batch making, chemical transfer, process operator or gas-handling experienceis a plus.
- Ability to read and understandSDS information, chemical labels, safety procedures and work instructions.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to understand equipment operation.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and measurements.
- Ability to accurately monitor gauges, pressure readings and equipment conditions.
- Strongattention to detail and safety awareness.
- Ability to recognize and immediately report leaks, spills, equipment problems and unsafe conditions.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures without taking shortcuts.
- Ability to maintain accurate production and safety documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance personnel and production employees.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a production team.
- Dependable attendance and ability to report to work on time.
