Metal Building Tech

The Metal Building Technician installs metal roofing, wall panels, and building components on steel structures. This role measures, cuts, and positions metal sheets and panels, fastens roofing and siding materials, and assists with steel erection and metal building assembly. The technician operates hand and power tools safely, follows project blueprints, and adheres to all safety policies and OSHA standards in a construction environment.

• Install metal roofing, wall panels, and other metal building components on steel structures.
• Measure, cut, and accurately position metal sheets and panels according to project specifications and blueprints.
• Fasten roofing and siding materials securely to steel building structures using appropriate tools and methods.
• Assist with steel erection activities and the assembly of metal building systems.
• Perform sheet metal work including fabrication, cutting, and fitting of metal siding, beams, and structural steel components.
• Read and work from project blueprints to ensure correct layout, alignment, and installation of materials.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment required for metal building installation.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA standards at all times on the job site.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle materials and equipment with care.
• Collaborate with other team members on construction projects to meet quality, schedule, and safety expectations.

• 2–5+ years of experience working as a steel erector or metal building erector.
• 2–5+ years of experience performing iron work and installing or building metal siding, beams, and sheets or panels.
• Proven ability to build and install metal buildings, metal siding, metal beams, and structural steel.
• Hands-on experience with sheet metal work, including sheet metal fabrication, cutting, and installation.
• Ability to install metal roofing, wall panels, and building components in a construction setting.
• Proficiency in measuring, cutting, and positioning metal sheets and panels with accuracy.
• Ability to fasten roofing and siding materials to steel building structures using appropriate tools and hardware.
• Experience assisting with steel erection and metal building assembly activities.
• Competence in safely operating hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment.
• Ability to read and work from construction blueprints and structural drawings.
• Strong understanding of and adherence to company safety policies and OSHA standards.

• Experience with structural steel installation and metal framing.
• Background in construction environments involving sheet metal and metal roofing.
• Familiarity with fabrication processes and construction workflows.
• Ability to interpret structural details and layout from drawings and plans.
• Exposure to design or modeling tools such as Revit and structural-related software is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and quality in installation work.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew and communicate clearly on site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tanner, AL.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
