Job Description

This role focuses on operating CNC machines to produce precision parts in accordance with engineering drawings and work instructions. You will set up and run CNC equipment, inspect parts to drawing requirements, troubleshoot malfunctions, and ensure all machining work meets tight tolerance and quality standards in a clean, well-organized manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC machines to produce parts that meet drawing specifications and tight tolerance requirements.
• Review setup sheets, blueprints, and work instructions to determine appropriate setup procedures for each job.
• Align and securely fasten holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
• Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials based on work instructions and job requirements.
• Perform machine setup, including loading programs, setting offsets, and preparing tools for production runs.
• Inspect machined parts using precision measuring tools such as calipers to verify compliance with dimensional and quality standards.
• Troubleshoot machine malfunctions, identify issues, and report needed repairs in a timely manner.
• Adjust machine settings, tooling, and offsets to maintain quality and productivity during production.
• Perform changeovers and machine set ups efficiently to support production schedules.
• Work with CNC mills, vertical turning lathes (VTL), and other machining equipment as required.
• Follow established machining processes for both CNC and occasional manual machining operations.
• Use and understand CNC controls, including Fanuc and Haas, to run and adjust programs as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work area in accordance with shop standards.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of experience in CNC machine operation in a manufacturing or machining environment.
• Hands-on experience with 3–5 axis CNC machines.
• Proficiency in CNC machine setup, including tooling, fixturing, and program loading.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Experience with precision machining and holding tight tolerances.
• CNC machine operation experience with mills and vertical lathes.
• Familiarity with Fanuc controls for CNC programming and operation.
• Ability to use precision measuring tools such as calipers for part inspection.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for machine malfunctions and production issues.
• Comfort working from setup sheets, specifications, and detailed work instructions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with vertical turning lathes (VTL) and vertical lathe operation is a plus.
• Manual machining experience is an advantage and may be used at times.
• Experience with Haas CNC machines and controls is beneficial.
• Exposure to EDM machining processes is helpful.
• Experience with Blohm or similar surface grinders is a plus.
• Expierence in CNC programming and adjusting offsets is beneficial.
• Familiarity with changeover processes and machine set up in a production environment.
• Comfort working with various machining equipment in a precision manufacturing setting.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing warehouse that is air-conditioned, well lit, clean, and professional, with no noted safety concerns, though it can get slightly warm during summer months. Work is performed on CNC mills, vertical turning lathes, grinders, and related machining equipment using controls such as Fanuc and Haas. Two primary shifts are available: 1st Shift operates Monday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and 2nd Shift operates Monday through Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. All 2nd Shift employees receive at least three months of training on 1st Shift before transitioning and then earn an additional 10% shift differential. The company provides a clothing allowance that covers pants, steel-toed boots, and shirts, supporting a practical, safety-focused dress code suited to a precision machining environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jupiter, FL.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
