Job Description:

The Material Handler on B Shift plays a key role in ensuring smooth production operations by safely moving materials to and from the production department, operating material handling equipment, and supporting packing activities. This position requires consistent attention to detail, safe equipment operation, and accurate documentation to ensure products are prepared correctly for shipment.

Responsibilities

• Move all materials to and from the production department in a timely and efficient manner.
• Safely and effectively operate forklifts, clamp trucks, sit-down forklifts, and pallet jacks to handle materials and finished goods.
• Perform daily pre-shift checks on forklifts, including inspecting equipment and completing battery changes as needed.
• Inspect products to ensure they are properly packaged and prepared for shipment to customers.
• Consistently lift boxes weighing up to 35 pounds as part of daily material handling and packing activities.
• Accurately and completely fill out labels and all required paperwork to support production and shipping processes.
• Verify correct weights and counts for materials and finished products to maintain inventory accuracy and quality standards.
• Construct cardboard boxes from collapsed cartons to support packing and shipping operations.
• Relieve packers for all scheduled breaks to maintain continuous production and packing flow.
• Follow established attendance policies, understanding that no-call/no-show may result in automatic termination and that only a limited number of call-ins are allowed each month.

Essential Skills

• Prior manufacturing experience to understand production workflows and material handling requirements.
• At least 6 months of forklift operating experience, including sit-down and clamp forklifts.
• Proficiency in operating clamp trucks, sit-down forklifts, and pallet jacks safely and effectively.
• Experience with general material handling tasks, including movement of materials and product picking.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate labeling, paperwork completion, and verification of weights and counts.
• Effective time management skills to support production schedules and complete tasks within required timeframes.
• Ability to consistently lift boxes weighing up to 35 pounds.
• Capability to follow established safety procedures and equipment inspection protocols.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a production or warehouse environment.
• Comfort working on a structured shift schedule with defined attendance expectations.
• Ability to work collaboratively with production and packing staff and provide coverage during breaks.
• Willingness to adapt to different shift conditions and facility environments after orientation and tour.

Work Environment

The position is based in a production and material handling environment where detailed information on temperature and cleanliness will be provided after an on-site tour. The facility operates on a 12-hour shift schedule: A & B shifts run from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and C & D shifts run from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with employees working approximately 15 days per month. The environment involves regular use of forklifts, clamp trucks, sit-down forklifts, pallet jacks, and standard packaging materials such as cardboard cartons. Attendance policies are clearly defined, including automatic termination for no-call/no-show and a limit of two call-ins per month, contributing to a structured and reliable workplace.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bettendorf, IA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
