Description:
We are seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join our team in Manassas, Virginia. In this role, you will support the test, evaluation, and design verification of Information Assurance (IA) and cybersecurity systems supporting the U.S. Navy Submarine Force. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to verify system functionality, ensure technical requirements are met, and investigate software, hardware, and interface issues in complex development and test environments.
The ideal candidate will bring significant experience in test engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical discipline, with experience supporting Navy submarine combat or training systems. Familiarity with AN/BYG-1 is highly valued. The successful candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, experience working with technical requirements and test documentation, and the ability to independently plan, execute, analyze, and document testing activities.
This is a full-time, on-site only position. The annual base salary is $111,00 - $123,500 /Yr, with final compensation based on experience and skills. U.S. citizenship is required, and candidates must have an active Department of Defense Secret security clearance at the time of hire.

This position primarily supports standard business hours; however, occasional overtime, travel, and non-standard work schedules may be required to support testing activities.
Requirements:
You'll be responsible for:
- Analyze system requirements and technical documentation to develop appropriate methods for validating requirements through testing and other verification methods.
- Develop, modify, and maintain comprehensive test procedures based on system requirements and approved test methodologies.
- Conduct verification and validation activities to confirm corrective changes satisfy system requirements and resolve identified defects.
- Plan and execute informal and formal test events to validate system requirements and support customer-directed testing activities.
- Identify, analyze, and document software, firmware, and hardware defects and collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Configure and support test laboratories in accordance with system drawings, port maps, and technical documentation.
- Participate in technical and program meetings and communicate test status, issues, risks, and recommendations to engineering and program leadership.
- Communicate significant test issues, risks, findings, and recommendations to engineering and program leadership.
- Develop and analyze test cases and communicate test status, findings, and recommendations throughout the test lifecycle.
- Perform assigned responsibilities with a high degree of independence, sound engineering judgment, and accountability for test results.
- Identify functional issues, analyze potential causes, and recommend effective technical solutions.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- Significant experience with AN/BYG-1 combat systems or similar Navy submarine combat systems is preferred.
- Demonstrated technical expertise in at least one engineering discipline with working knowledge of related technical areas.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and test methodologies.
- Proficiency in software testing and analysis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to independently plan, execute, analyze, and document assigned testing activities and exercise sound technical judgment.
