Title: Mechanical Engineer III
Location: On-site at Sullivan Park in Corning, NY
Max Pay Rate: $65/hr
Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Technology required
Minimum Experience: 7+ years
Duration: 1 year with potential to extend
Travel Requirements: Domestic travel up to 25% to vendor or plant sites
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 40 hours with overtime as required
Immigration Status: Must be eligible to work in the US for minimum of 18 months
Interview process:
- Initial teams call with manager,
- 2nd round will be with additional team members.
- Manager is willing to consider non-local candidates who are willing to relocate at their own expense.
*This role is not simply design. Candidates should not shy away from hands on builds/ install/ startup/ debug of the equipment they design.
SCOPE OF POSITION:
- A senior mechanical design engineer responsible for providing detailed mechanical designs of handling and process equipment.
- Responsible for all aspects of the design, build and debug of equipment including vendor management.
hands-on mechanical support for the installation, start-up and debug glass manufacturing process equipment. - This includes working with a multi-functional team (mechanical, electrical, controls, facilities, IT, operations, etc.)
Involves the application of mechanical principles encompassed in mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, metallurgy, and machine design used for the design, production, operation, and use machinery of all types.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of mechanical equipment design experience
- Proficient with SolidWorks
- Competent with structural FEA analysis
- Experience with design, install, start-up and debug of robust mechanical equipment suitable for the manufacturing environment.
- Ability to effectively manage mechanical and electrical trades executing equipment install and debug.
- Knowledge of machine guarding and safety practices and standards (OSHA, etc.)
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to collaborate and work with diverse teams (skills, gender, culture, race, etc.)
Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Technology required
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with internal project team to understand design requirements
- Independently determines and develops approaches to solutions
- Responsible for installation and debug at factory site
- Provide hands on input and insight into equipment installation and troubleshooting
- Verify equipment build and layout against drawings
- Coordinate installation plan with safety and plant receivers
- Confer with Corning engineers and vendors to resolve equipment install or build discrepancies.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Potential travel of 25%
- Travel to a supplier or vendor may be required for equipment check-out before shipment.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Typical 40 hours per week.
- May require working weekends/holidays or longer days to support schedule.
