Job Description

The Project Manager oversees commercial civil construction projects from award through completion, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and within scope. This role manages multiple projects simultaneously, serves as the primary liaison with project owners and their representatives, and contributes to estimating and project management efforts while fostering strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Manage civil construction projects from initial award through final completion, ensuring all project objectives are met.
• Oversee multiple concurrent projects while maintaining a high level of organization to consistently meet critical deadlines.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the company and project owners’ representatives, ensuring clear communication and strong relationships.
• Meet with customers regularly and assist in developing and maintaining long-term customer relationships.
• Work both independently and collaboratively with the estimating and project management team to support project success.
• Promote and uphold a safe work site for each project, aligning with safety standards and best practices.
• Update weekly and monthly project schedules to reflect current status, milestones, and upcoming activities.
• Coordinate civil site and commercial construction activities, ensuring alignment with project plans and specifications.
• Support and review estimating efforts, providing project insights and feedback as needed.
• Leverage project management tools and software to track progress, documentation, and communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential Skills

• 7+ years of project management experience in civil construction (5+ years may be considered).
• Strong experience in civil construction projects, with a focus on civil site work rather than building construction.
• Proven experience managing multiple commercial construction projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency with Procore for project management and documentation.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam for plan review and markups.
• Demonstrated ability to organize complex project information and meet critical deadlines.
• Experience serving as the primary point of contact for project owners and their representatives.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of an estimating/project management team.
• Commitment to promoting and maintaining safe work sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree is a plus.
• Estimating experience in civil construction is a plus.
• Experience in commercial construction and civil site projects.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building and maintaining customer relationships.
• Ability to adapt to a flexible and innovation-focused environment.
• Comfort working in both office and field settings as project needs require.

Work Environment

The Project Manager works in a mix of office and field environments, spending time in the office for planning, coordination, and documentation, and on project sites to oversee work and interact with stakeholders. Projects are primarily located in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. The current team consists of two project managers and two estimators, providing a collaborative setting with support across functions. The paving division operates as a separate unit while benefiting from the resources of a larger corporation. The culture emphasizes innovation, flexibility as long as work is completed, and a laid-back atmosphere where team members can clearly see the impact of their contributions and are valued as individuals rather than treated as numbers. This is a Permanent position based out of Louisville, KY.

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
