Digital Electronics / FPGA Engineer – Avionics

Miami , FL Area - Onsite

Position Overview

We are seeking a Digital Electronics Engineer to develop and verify advanced digital hardware for aerospace and avionics applications. This position will work extensively with VHDL, FPGAs, ASICs, and microprocessor/microcontroller-based designs, supporting hardware from initial requirements and architecture through implementation, verification, and certification.

The engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop reliable, safety-critical electronic systems in accordance with DO-254 requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop digital electronic hardware for aerospace and avionics systems.
  • Develop and maintain VHDL for FPGA-based designs.
  • Design digital circuits utilizing FPGAs, ASICs, microprocessors, and microcontrollers.
  • Create simulations and test benches to verify design functionality and performance.
  • Perform synthesis, place-and-route, timing analysis, and design optimization.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve digital hardware and FPGA design issues throughout development and testing.
  • Support hardware requirements definition, design documentation, and requirements traceability.
  • Execute development activities in accordance with DO-254 certification processes.
  • Participate in design reviews, verification activities, and certification documentation.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, systems, and test engineering teams to integrate digital hardware into larger avionics platforms.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Professional experience designing and developing digital electronic hardware.
  • Strong hands-on experience with VHDL and FPGA development.
  • Experience working with FPGAs, ASICs, microprocessors, and/or microcontrollers.
  • Understanding of FPGA development workflows including simulation, synthesis, implementation, and timing analysis.
  • Experience with DO-254 or similar safety-critical hardware development standards.
  • Experience with FPGA/EDA development tools such as AMD/Xilinx Vivado, Intel/Altera Quartus, or comparable platforms.

Preferred Experience

  • Avionics or aerospace electronics development experience.
  • Experience developing hardware for safety-critical or highly regulated applications.
  • Familiarity with hardware verification, requirements traceability, and certification processes.
  • Experience supporting FPGA designs from initial concept through qualification and production.
