Job Description:
**Manager Note: Our goal is to get either new grads or those new to the workforce. We require an engineering bachelors degree. No Computer Science degrees. EIT certifications are a plus.**
- The Engineer Design contractor position assists in the planning, design, and development of technical standards for gas distribution infrastructure projects. The right candidate must be a self-starter, excellent communicator, critical thinker and able to make sound decisions.

- As our Engineer in the design group, a typical day might include:
- Working on gas storage or gas fueling station assignments
- Performing assignments involving the design of components or functionality of pipeline products.
- Involved in the planning and design of mechanical equipment and components involving maintenance of mechanical equipment.
- Performing system balances to determine the best overall solution to solve system issues or identify system low points and methods to best solve them.

What candidate will need to qualify for this position:
- BA/BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil or General)
- 1-3 years of progressive Engineering experience
- Or
- Equivalent academic education and experience
Certifications/Licenses:
- Preferred: Engineer in Training (E.I.T.)
Desired Qualifications:
- The Engineer 1 position requires 0-3 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree with a focus in Mechanical, Civil or General engineering experience.
- Responsible for applying engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct power related systems.
- Supports estimate preparation, develops design options, and prepares construction specifications.
- Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages.

- Supporting construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations.
- Estimating material for projects.
- Transmitting construction packages and supporting specifications.

- Project Management

- Computer Assisted Design/Geographic Information System - basic proficiency
- MS Office - advanced proficiency
- CAD/GIS - intermediate proficiency
- Introductory engineering knowledge
- Basic problem-solving skills
- Limited discretion making independent decisions based on procedure and review with supervisor
- Basic discipline software knowledge
- Strong work ethic
- Positive attitude
- Ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.
