AVIR at Alice is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our rehabilitation team. We are currently hiring for Full-Time and Per Diem opportunities.

Our in-house rehabilitation program provides an excellent opportunity to work collaboratively with residents, families, nursing staff, and other rehabilitation professionals to help residents achieve their highest level of communication, swallowing, cognitive, and functional independence.

Position Responsibilities

• Evaluate residents' speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing abilities.

• Develop individualized speech-language pathology treatment plans based on residents' needs and goals.

• Provide skilled speech-language pathology services in accordance with residents' care plans.

• Treat communication disorders, including speech, language, voice, and cognitive-communication deficits.

• Assess and treat swallowing and feeding disorders and provide appropriate dysphagia management.

• Recommend and implement appropriate compensatory strategies, therapeutic exercises, and communication techniques.

• Make recommendations regarding diet texture, liquid consistency, swallowing precautions, and safe feeding strategies as clinically indicated.

• Monitor residents' progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.

• Document evaluations, treatment sessions, progress, and recommendations accurately and in a timely manner.

• Collaborate with OTs, PTs, PTAs, COTAs, nursing staff, physicians, dietary staff, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

• Educate residents, families, and caregivers regarding communication strategies, swallowing safety, therapeutic techniques, and recommendations.

• Participate in care planning and interdisciplinary team meetings as appropriate.

• Maintain compliance with facility, state, federal, and professional standards and regulations.

Qualifications

• Current Texas Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license in good standing.

• Graduate of an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program.

• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP), as applicable.

• Strong clinical, communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

• Experience in skilled nursing, subacute rehabilitation, or a similar setting preferred.

• Knowledge of dysphagia management and cognitive-communication disorders preferred.

• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
