Pay

• $22.13 to $23.13/hour to start, based on experience.
• Plus $2.16 for every hour you work, including overtime, paid into your retirement account after 30 working days. About $6,400 a year. You pay nothing toward it.
• Time and a half after 8 hours in a day. Double time Sundays and holidays.
• $100 bonus after 30 days, $200 at 60 days, and $300 at 90 days.

Our welders are working 15 to 17 hours of overtime a week. With that overtime and the retirement money, this job pays about $78,000 to $85,000 a year. Overtime depends on production and is not guaranteed.

Hours

Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM, plus overtime. About a 50-hour week, plus some Saturdays.

The Work

Inspecting, finishing and repairing spirally welded steel cylinders for large-diameter pressure pipe water transmission, sewer and penstock. Weld repairs to AWWA C200. Back gouging and back welding. Oxy-acetylene cutting. Grinding. Measuring and documenting repairs to 1/32 inch.

What You Need

• FCAW experience, and able to pass a 3G FCAW test with back gouge and back weld
• Welds that meet ASME Section VIII, UW-51 for 100% radiographic inspection
• Able to hold a 92% weld acceptance rate
• SMAW preferred. SAW is a plus.

Loud, dusty, not air conditioned. Lifting up to 50 pounds. Ladders and elevated work. The company pays half your boots up to two pairs a year, supplies rain and winter gear, and replaces your welding hood lenses free.

The Weld Test

We test on site and tell you the same day how you did. Come in during walk-in hours and bring your hood and gloves if you want to use your own. No waiting a week to hear back.
