About the Role:
As an Associate Engineer, you will provide entry-level engineering and technical expertise on civil engineering design projects for electrical substations and transmission line right-of-way projects. This position prepares guidance for site layout, grading design, retaining wall design, stormwater analysis, permitting, containment structure design, survey coordination, and civil construction support.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Build design models using the Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation, and stormwater analysis programs
- Conduct transmission right-of-way access improvement design including culvert sizing, stormwater drainage analysis, stabilization specification, construction support, and inspection
- Develop civil construction specifications
- Conduct engineering related studies
- Learn and understand design criteria
- Evaluate and provide commentary on design alternatives
- Compose work packages and release letters
- Effectively manage multiple tasks for multiple projects
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (required)
- EI/EIT certification (preferred)
- 1+ years of related civil engineering experience in the electric utility industry (preferred)
- Experience using Civil 3D and other related software (preferred)
- Experience with design codes and standards
- Understanding of basic practices for researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and preparing and presenting recommendations
- Ability to prepare thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
- Ability to work in a safe manner and always obey safety regulations
- Ability to be a self-starter and thrive in an unstructured, varied, and deadline-driven work environment
- Effective communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation skills)
- Demonstrated verbal and technical writing skills
- Ability to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s driving (MVR) policy
