We are a busy CNC machine shop with 40+ employees seeking an experienced FullTime Bookkeeper to manage our daytoday accounting, job costing, payroll support, and financial reporting. You will be the primary owner of the books and a key partner to the owner and operations team.
Key responsibilities
Maintain the general ledger and record all daily transactions (sales, purchases, receipts, payments).
Own accounts receivable: create and send invoices, apply payments, monitor aging, and coordinate collections on pastdue accounts.
Own accounts payable: enter vendor bills, match purchase orders, track due dates, and run weekly payments for suppliers and subcontractors.
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Prepare and post payroll journal entries; support HR/owner with payroll changes and verify accuracy of payroll reports.
Track inventory of raw material, tooling, consumables, and finished goods; support WIP tracking and job costing.
Allocate material, labor, and overhead to jobs and provide cost and margin reports to management.
Produce basic monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and provide simple commentary on results and cash flow.
Coordinate with the external CPA on yearend close, tax filings, and requested schedules.
Maintain organized digital and paper records and support any lender, insurance, or tax audits with clean documentation.
Required qualifications
4+ years bookkeeping or accounting experience, including responsibility for a small or midsize business.
Strong knowledge of doubleentry bookkeeping, general ledger, A/R, A/P, and reconciliations.
Proficiency with smallbusiness accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Experience supporting payroll and understanding of basic payroll and sales/use tax concepts.
High attention to detail, strong organization, and ability to manage recurring monthly and weekly deadlines in a busy shop environment.
Preferred experience
Prior experience in a fabrication, or other jobcost manufacturing environment.
Experience with job costing, WIP, and inventory control for manufacturing.
Familiarity with equipment loans, covenants, and providing simple reporting packages to banks or leasing companies.
Work schedule and compensation
Schedule: Fulltime, 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, onsite.
Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience $60,000–$75,000 per year.
