Collins Academy is seeking a dependable, responsible, and professional Childcare Driver to safely transport children to and from our childcare center, homes, and local schools.
The ideal candidate must be punctual, patient, safety-focused, and comfortable working with children of different ages. Reliability is extremely important because our families depend on transportation services each day.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport children to and from Collins Academy, schools, and approved pick-up/drop-off locations.
- Follow assigned transportation routes and schedules.
- Arrive on time for all scheduled routes.
- Perform required vehicle safety checks before transporting children.
- Maintain accurate transportation and attendance records.
- Make sure children are properly secured using appropriate seat belts, car seats, or restraints.
- Maintain proper supervision of children while they are in the vehicle.
- Follow all Collins Academy transportation policies and Wisconsin childcare transportation requirements.
- Communicate transportation concerns, delays, incidents, or route issues with management.
- Keep the childcare vehicle clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Immediately report vehicle maintenance or safety concerns.
- Maintain professional and respectful communication with children, families, schools, coworkers, and management.
- Never make unauthorized changes to transportation routes, addresses, or pick-up/drop-off arrangements.
- Assist with other transportation-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.
- Clean and acceptable driving record.
- Must be dependable and punctual.
- Must be able to safely work around and supervise children.
- Must pass required background checks.
- Must meet all state and Collins Academy requirements for childcare transportation.
- Ability to follow written routes, schedules, policies, and instructions.
- Strong communication and time-management skills.
- Must remain calm and professional in traffic, during delays, and when working with children.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience driving children, school transportation, daycare transportation, vans, or similar vehicles.
- Previous childcare experience.
- Familiarity with the Milwaukee area and surrounding school locations.
