Key Qualifications:
- Current Georgia Educator Certificate for Sign Language Interpreters with an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher
- Consideration also given to SLI Paraprofessionals with close EIPA scores who are actively working to improve and plan to re-take the exam; such applicants may start as a Sign Language Interpreter Technician and transition into a full SLI role
- Solid interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach
- Comfortable with maintaining daily service logs and documentation
- Adaptability to work with varying age groups; interests and experience will be discussed during interviews for optimal placement
Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site sign language interpretation for students in a school setting
- Foster clear communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, their peers, and school staff
- Complete daily log documentation per district guidelines
- Participate in any required pre- or post-planning activities
- Work closely with educators and other staff to create an inclusive educational experience
This position is full-time (minimum 37.5 hours per week), with some consideration for part-time. Assignment dates run ASAP through May 21st, 2027, with potential additional days for planning. Exact caseload and age group placement will be determined in collaboration with district staff to best match your background and interests.
