Job Description

The Accountant is responsible for the overall management of assigned community accounts and assists in all aspects of the accounting department. The tasks of this position are vast, and may include (but are not limited to):

  • Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations
  • Monitor cash flows, assist property managers with accounting issues, record journal entries and assist in the preparation of annual budgets
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for clients, including variance analysis and explanations
  • Monitor bank account balances and ensure adequate FDIC coverage
  • Assist in entering General Ledger and Accounts Receivable balances forward for new properties acquired
  • Identify and implement process improvements to make the accounting team more efficient
  • Special projects as assigned by CFO

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. This position also requires the employee sit for extended durations of time in front of a computer.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong computer skills - proficient in MS Office
  • Knowledge in databases, spreadsheets, analytical software
  • Self-directed and high attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable communicating with clients, vendors, and coworkers
  • Must have a positive attitude, be a team player, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, prioritize, and have strong organizational, time management, and problem solving skills

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
  • Five years related experience in accounting position and/or an equal combination of education and experience
  • HOA or property management experience preferred
  • Background check required
