JOB SUMMARY

  • The Engineer Design contractor position assists in the planning, design, and development of technical standards for gas distribution infrastructure projects.
  • The right candidate must be a self-starter, excellent communicator, critical thinker and able to make sound decisions.
  • The Engineer 1 position requires 0-3 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree with a focus in Mechanical, Civil or General engineering experience.
  • Responsible for applying engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct power related systems.
  • Supports estimate preparation, develops design options, and prepares construction specifications.
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Creating a safe work environment by putting safety first
  • Understand the process used for planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance
  • Understanding the functions and activities of various internal departments involved in design, construction, and maintenance
  • Understanding design practices and work processes
  • Using all software applications used in design, understanding industry andCompany design standards
  • Supporting design standard and criteria development for the system
  • Supporting construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations
  • Estimating material for projects
  • Transmitting construction packages
  • Supporting specifications.

SKILLSETS and EXPERTISE

  • Introductory engineering knowledge, basic problem-solving skills, limited discretion making independent decisions based on procedure and review with supervisor
  • Basic discipline software knowledge, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.

As our Engineer in the design group, a typical day might include:

  • Working on gas storage or gas fueling station assignments
  • Performing assignments involving the design of components or functionality of pipeline products
  • Involved in the planning and design of mechanical equipment and components involving maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Performing system balances to determine the best overall solution to solve system issues or identify system low points and methods to best solve them.
  • Provide oversight and support for construction activities

What candidate will need to qualify for this position:

  • BA/BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil or General)
  • 1-3 years of progressive Engineering experience

Or

  • Equivalent academic education and experience

Certifications/Licenses:
Preferred: Engineer in Training (E.I.T.)

Required Skills:

  • Project Management

  • Computer Assisted Design/Geographic Information System - basic proficiency
  • MS Office - advanced proficiency
  • CAD/GIS - intermediate proficiency
