Test Engineer Team Lead

The Test Engineer Team Lead oversees test engineering activities across multiple sites, ensuring effective resource management and high-quality product validation and certification. This role participates in new product planning, drives technical and process improvements, and leads a team of test engineers in an engineering lab environment. The position plays a key role in maintaining lab certifications, supporting audits, and resolving product performance issues while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

• Manage test engineering resources across multiple sites to ensure efficient utilization and timely completion of test activities.
• Participate in new product planning by evaluating test feasibility, estimating test costs, allocating resources, and developing test schedules.
• Collaborate with other departments to align test strategies with design, manufacturing, and quality objectives.
• Lead and participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance test efficiency, reliability, and overall product quality.
• Train, mentor, and develop new and existing employees, providing technical guidance and leadership to the test engineering team.
• Lead technical improvement and innovation in test methods, tools, and automation to support evolving product and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain all lab certifications and ensure compliance with applicable standards, supporting agency site audits as needed.
• Support quality investigations into product performance issues by performing root cause analysis and providing technical documentation and data.
• Create and maintain test processes, procedures, and reports to support product validation, certification, and release.
• Provide data and technical justification to certification bodies (such as UL or similar organizations) to obtain and sustain product certifications.
• Support product release into factory environments by ensuring test readiness, documentation, and alignment with manufacturing requirements.
• Utilize test equipment such as oscilloscopes and other hardware tools to perform verification testing, debug issues, and validate product performance.
• Apply knowledge of safety design, development, and test to ensure products meet relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements.
• Work with standards and requirements including UL, EN298, EMI, and EMC in the context of product verification and certification.
• Contribute to the validation of high-volume product lines and support test automation initiatives where applicable.

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering.
• At least 5 years of related experience involving product validation or certification.
• A minimum of 3 years of management experience in a product test or verification capacity.
• Strong knowledge of safety design, development, and test practices.
• Experience providing data and technical justification to certified bodies (such as UL or similar) for product certification.
• Proven experience creating test processes, procedures, and detailed test reports.
• Experience working in an ISO certified organization and adhering to standardized quality systems.
• Experience supporting product release into a factory environment, including coordination with manufacturing and quality teams.
• Hands-on experience with test and hardware tools, including oscilloscopes, for debugging and verification testing.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis for product performance issues and document findings clearly.
• Familiarity with standards and requirements such as UL, EN298, EMI, and EMC.
• Proficiency in electronics and verification testing in a lab environment.
• Ability to interpret and produce clear technical documentation related to test activities.

• Experience with validation of high-volume product lines.
• Experience with test automation and related tools or frameworks.
• Exposure to programming or scripting languages such as Python for test or automation tasks.
• Experience using LabVIEW for test development or data acquisition.
• Familiarity with PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) in the context of test systems or factory support.
• Practical soldering skills for hardware debugging or prototype modifications.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills for working effectively across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical improvement and innovation initiatives within a test engineering organization.
• Experience maintaining lab certifications and supporting external agency audits.

This role is based onsite in an engineering lab environment, working closely with test equipment, hardware, and electronic components. The work involves hands-on use of tools such as oscilloscopes and other measurement devices to perform verification testing and debugging. The environment is focused on product validation, certification, and continuous improvement, with collaboration across engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Derry, NH.

The pay range for this position is $135000.00 - $150000.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
