Position Summary

Santa Maria Post Acute is seeking a compassionate and skilled Respiratory Therapist (RT) to provide respiratory care to our residents. The Respiratory Therapist will assess, treat, and monitor residents with respiratory conditions while working closely with nursing, physicians, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory assessments and monitor residents for changes in respiratory status.

• Provide respiratory treatments and therapies as ordered by physicians.

• Administer and monitor oxygen therapy and other respiratory support.

• Provide nebulizer treatments and other prescribed respiratory treatments.

• Assist with the management and monitoring of tracheostomies and related respiratory equipment, as applicable.

• Perform suctioning and other respiratory procedures within the scope of practice.

• Monitor residents' response to respiratory treatments and report significant changes to the appropriate healthcare provider.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of respiratory assessments, treatments, and resident responses.

• Educate residents and families regarding respiratory care, treatments, equipment, and disease management.

• Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, and other interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.

• Follow infection control, safety, and facility policies and procedures.

• Ensure respiratory equipment is properly cleaned, maintained, and functioning.

• Respond appropriately to respiratory emergencies and changes in residents' condition.

• Participate in care conferences and interdisciplinary meetings as needed.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist license/credential required in the State of California.

• Current CPR/BLS certification required.

• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.

• Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility, post-acute care, hospital, or similar healthcare setting preferred.

• Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team.

• Ability to provide compassionate and professional care to residents.

• Must be able to follow physician orders and facility policies and procedures.
