About the Role

We are seeking experienced healthcare customer service professionals to join a busy Patient Access team supporting appointment scheduling and patient registration services. This position is ideal for candidates who thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume call center environment and have experience handling patient scheduling, insurance verification, and healthcare-related customer support.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing 65-80 inbound and outbound calls per day while providing exceptional service to patients, providers, and clinical teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Schedule patient appointments while ensuring accuracy and adherence to provider scheduling guidelines.
  • Handle a high volume of inbound and outbound calls in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Register patients and verify demographic, insurance, and referral information.
  • Obtain and process prior authorizations, referrals, and required documentation.
  • Coordinate with physicians, clinical staff, and care teams regarding scheduling requests and patient needs.
  • Educate patients on insurance coverage, financial assistance programs, billing processes, and payment responsibilities.
  • Contact patients regarding appointment confirmations, reminders, cancellations, and rescheduling needs.
  • Process physician referrals and support patient access to appropriate clinical services.
  • Maintain accurate patient records within Epic and other scheduling systems.
  • Assist with account maintenance activities and resolve patient inquiries related to registration, scheduling, and billing.
  • Monitor patient reminder systems and make necessary scheduling adjustments.
  • Support provider schedule maintenance, including template updates and appointment modifications.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve complex patient access issues while maintaining a positive patient experience.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in a high-volume call center, patient access, patient registration, medical scheduling, or healthcare customer service environment.
  • Proven ability to manage 65-80 calls per day while maintaining quality and accuracy.
  • Experience with patient scheduling, appointment coordination, and registration processes.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification, referrals, authorizations, and medical billing practices.
  • Strong computer skills and experience working with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Epic or similar healthcare systems.
  • Experience supporting large healthcare organizations, hospitals, specialty clinics, or physician practices.
  • Familiarity with financial assistance programs and patient billing support.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
