We are looking for a Construction Accountant to support financial operations for active projects in Charleston, South Carolina. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate records, tracking project-related costs, and helping ensure timely month-end close activities. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting fundamentals along with experience in construction environments where job costing and general ledger accuracy are essential.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post accounting entries to maintain complete and accurate financial records.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to support reliable reporting.
• Monitor project costs and allocate expenses appropriately across jobs and cost codes.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks, including account analysis and supporting schedules.
• Review construction-related financial activity to help ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with company policies.
• Partner with project and operations teams to gather cost information and resolve accounting questions.
• Maintain documentation for audits, internal reviews, and routine accounting procedures.
• Experience in accounting roles with responsibility for journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
• Working knowledge of job costing principles, preferably within construction or contractor environments.
• Ability to analyze financial data, identify variances, and resolve account issues accurately.
• Strong understanding of core accounting practices and month-end close processes.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for financial reporting.
• High level of organization and attention to detail in a deadline-driven setting.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across finance and operations teams.
