Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid EIPA score of 3.0 or higher
- Demonstrated experience interpreting in educational settings, preferably at the elementary level
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, staff, and families
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive educational environment
- Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic classroom situations
- Strong professionalism and reliability
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for elementary-aged students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Facilitate clear communication between students, classroom teachers, and peers
- Support student participation in classroom activities and school events
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with professional standards and school policies
- Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to IEPs or similar planning when needed
- Engage in continued professional development to stay current with best practices in educational interpreting
