SECURITY TRAINING INSTRUCTOR (STI)

RMPS is seeking experienced Security Training Instructors (STIs) to manage and deliver aviation security-screening training at Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport.

The STI will provide classroom, practical and on-the-job training support; maintain employee certification and training records; coordinate remedial and recurrent training; and assist management in maintaining a qualified and operationally ready screening workforce.

• Deliver approved passenger and baggage security-screening training.

• Conduct classroom, virtual and practical instruction.

• Coordinate and support On-the-Job Training.

• Maintain accurate training, certification and qualification records.

• Monitor employee training status and certification expiration dates.

• Coordinate recurrent, remedial and proficiency training.

• Evaluate trainee performance and provide corrective instruction.

• Coordinate training schedules with screening operations.

• Support instructor standardization and training quality assurance.

• Maintain current knowledge of applicable screening procedures and training requirements.

• Support operational screening when appropriately qualified and assigned.

• Prepare training metrics, status reports and readiness information.

• Protect Sensitive Security Information and other controlled training information.

Candidates must satisfy applicable screening/instructor qualification requirements and meet at least one of the following experience pathways:

• Minimum 2 years of adult-learning classroom instruction experience; OR

• Appropriate instructor certification/training through a recognized instructor program; OR

• Formal instructor training from a recognized source such as the U.S. military, federal training program, college/university, trade school or private corporation.

The governing STI requirements use these qualification pathways.

Candidates must also:

• Be able to obtain and maintain required airport credentials and suitability.

• Meet applicable security-screening eligibility requirements.

• Successfully complete required instructor and screening qualification/certification.

• Maintain certification for the screening functions they instruct.

• Possess strong classroom presentation, coaching and communication skills.

• Demonstrate accurate recordkeeping and administrative skills.

Current or previous TSA/SPP STI experience is strongly preferred. Experience training TSOs, LTSOs or STSOs; passenger and baggage screening certification; OJT administration; recurrent or remedial training; and aviation-security training record management are highly desirable.
