Job Title: Lift Watcher/Spotter

Location: Anderson, IN (Onsite)

Duration: 6+ Months (Contract)

JOB DESCRIPTION

A lift watcher (often called a “spotter” or “safety watch”) is responsible for monitoring lifting operationstypically involving cranes, hoists, or heavy equipmentto ensure everything is done safely and according to plan.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

· Monitor lifting operations: Watch loads as they are lifted, moved, and placed to ensure stability and safety

· Ensure safety compliance: Make sure procedures follow company policies and regulations (like OSHA standards)

· Maintain clear communication: Relay signals between crane operators, riggers, and ground crews (often using hand signals or radios)

· Identify hazards: Look out for risks such as overhead obstructions, unstable loads, or unsafe personnel positioning

· Control access: Keep unauthorized people out of the lifting area

· Stop unsafe operations: Has authority to halt the lift if something looks dangerous

KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

· Strong situational awareness and attention to detail

· Knowledge of lifting/rigging procedures

· Good communication skills (verbal and hand signals)

· Ability to stay focused for long periods

· Basic understanding of safety regulations (e.g., OSHA)
