Reviews the documentation in the record to identify all pertinent facts necessary to select the comprehensive diagnoses and procedures that fully describe the patients’ conditions and treatment.
Verify required billing information, assigning accurate ICD-10 codes and reviewing for CPT accuracy and modifiers.
Respond to all requests for assistance in resolving issues related to coding and billing.
Serve as a liaison to faculty, administrators, and personnel for all coding and billing matters
Assists with efforts to increase physician awareness of documentation requirements.
Prepares case reports and initiates follow-up for billing process.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Associate degree in a related field
Knowledge of surgery codinga plus
Minimum 2-years surgery coding experience preferred.
Working knowledge of medical terminology and related computer systems
