Job Description

Job Description
Description
Position Overview
You'll lead MasteryPrep's Minnesota GEAR UP tutoring program for middle and high school students, then help us grow tutoring well beyond Minnesota.
During the school year, you run a multi-site, in-person program: tutors, instruction, data, and school partnerships. Between programs, including summer, you build the playbooks and training that will carry tutoring to new sites and states. You'll also deliver professional development and product training for schools nationwide.
This role is for someone who wants to build something, not just maintain it.

Key Responsibilities
Your focus shifts with the school calendar.

  • Run the program across multiple Minnesota sites, keeping instruction aligned to Minnesota Academic Standards and the Gradual Release of Responsibility model.
  • Prepare and coach tutors on standards, small-group and data-driven instruction, Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) alignment, and classroom management.
  • Keep sites running smoothly, from staffing and scheduling to materials and room and technology setup.
  • Lead the assessment cycle, from baseline diagnostics through final assessments, and use the results to adjust student groups and instruction.
  • Serve as the main contact for school leaders and GEAR UP coordinators, sharing data summaries every two weeks, monthly progress reports, and an end-of-program impact report.
  • Observe classrooms, coach tutors, and step in to model instruction or lead small groups when needed.
  • Turn what works in Minnesota into playbooks, tutor training, coaching rubrics, and quality standards that can transfer to new sites and states.
  • Lead implementation when MasteryPrep explores new tutoring opportunities, helping scope, pilot, and design programs and staffing models.
  • Share lessons from the field with internal teams to strengthen MasteryPrep's tutoring model.
  • Plan and deliver professional development and MasteryPrep product training for schools and districts, in person and virtually.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
What you bring
  • Master's degree in education, educational leadership, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of instructional or school-based experience
  • Strong knowledge of grades 7 to 12 standards in literacy, math, science, or a combination
  • Experience managing or coaching instructional staff
  • Skill in analyzing data and using it to guide instructional decisions
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Comfort presenting to and training adult learners
  • Based in or willing to relocate to the Minneapolis area, with weekly travel between sites during the program and national travel as needed
Nice to have
  • Experience with Minnesota Academic Standards and the MCAs
  • Leadership experience in tutoring, intervention, or academic enrichment programs
  • Experience designing and delivering professional development for educators
  • A track record of building or scaling a program, not just running one
  • Familiarity with MasteryPrep's curriculum and instructional approach

Benefits
  • Compensation: $72000 - $78000 annually
  • Employee benefits eligibility (health, disability, AD&D, life insurance).
  • Matching 401k
  • Paid time off
