Stockroom Supervisor

A Stockroom Supervisor oversees stockroom operations, manages inventory, supervises staff, and ensures accurate, efficient, safe handling and storage of materials.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Inventory Management: Track stock levels, organize stockrooms, monitor incoming and outgoing shipments, and maintain accurate inventory records

• Staff Supervision: Lead and coordinate stockroom staff, provide training, assign tasks, evaluate performance, and handle disciplinary actions when necessary

• Ordering and Procurement: Assist with ordering replacement items, match purchase orders to invoices, inspect received goods, and communicate with vendors to resolve issues

• Operational Efficiency: Develop systems for stock tracking, reduce inefficiencies, and ensure smooth workflow within the stockroom

• Safety and Compliance: Maintain health and safety standards, ensure proper handling of hazardous materials, and comply with OSHA and company regulations

• Achieving KPI’s set by management: Responsible for researching and identifying root cause and corrective action.

• Auditing inventory accuracy: Accomplished through cycle counts and annual inventory counts.

• Reporting: Prepare and submit stock reports, charge-back reports, and other departmental documentation to management. Maintaining department standard operating procedures (SOP’s)

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma is typically required; an associate degree in business, management, or a technical field is preferred

• Experience: Previous warehouse experience is often required, with supervisory experience highly valued

• Technical Skills: Proficiency with inventory management software, stock control systems, and proficiency in computer applications

• Soft Skills: Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail, multitasking, effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

Physical and Work Requirements

• Ability to lift and move items up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods

• Work schedules may include extended hours, weekends, or flexible shifts depending on operational needs

Additional Considerations

• Stockroom Supervisors may also provide technical assistance to sales and customer service teams regarding material handling and storage

• Leadership responsibilities include motivating staff, resolving conflicts, and ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures

• The role may involve operating equipment such as forklifts, delivery trucks, and carts
