Join Our Team as an Experienced Math Tutor at BCD Academy!

Are you passionate about math and love working with kids? BCD Academy, an afterschool enrichment program in San Bruno, CA, is looking for a patient and creative math tutor to inspire young learners and make numbers fun! If you have a knack for teaching and a talent for turning math into an engaging experience, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Position

As an Experienced Math Tutor at BCD Academy, you’ll work with small groups of students (ages 5–11) and provide one-on-one support as needed. You’ll also lead a Math Fun Games Class, where creativity and hands-on activities are key to keeping kids excited about learning. This part-time role is perfect for someone with at least 3 years of experience who understands the American elementary school math curriculum and enjoys connecting with children in a meaningful way.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach small groups and individuals: Work with two small groups of students (ages 5–11) during tutoring sessions and provide one-on-one support as needed.
• Make math fun: Use games, hands-on activities, and creative approaches to make learning engaging and enjoyable.
• Lead Math Fun Games Class: Design and lead a weekly class focused on math-based games that build real skills.
• Utilize resources: Access our internal resource library to download worksheets and guide students through them.
• Simplify complex concepts: Explain math concepts clearly and in ways that are easy for young learners to understand.

What We’re Looking For

We’re searching for a tutor with the following qualifications and qualities:

• Experience: At least 3 years of experience teaching or tutoring math, especially with elementary-aged students.
• Curriculum knowledge: A strong understanding of the American elementary school math curriculum.
• Connection with kids: Patience, warmth, and an ability to connect with children of various ages and skill levels.
• Creativity: A talent for turning math practice into fun and engaging activities.
• Bonus skills: Experience as a substitute teacher, especially in math, or prior experience teaching math in any setting is a big plus.

Schedule

• 3 afternoons per week: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with: 2 days: Small-group math tutoring and 1 day: Math Fun Games Class
