Location: South Deerfield, MA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m. ET (2nd shift)
Salary: $90,000–$97,000 annually +$3,000shift differential
Annual Bonus: 8%

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor II to lead second-shift operations in a machine shop/CNC manufacturing environment. This role oversees production schedules, employee performance, safety, quality, cost, delivery, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The supervisor directly leads Production Department Leads, develops team members, coordinates cross-functional problem-solving, and drives Lean Manufacturing practices throughout the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct production schedules, work assignments, priorities, and workflow to meet demand and delivery requirements.
  • Lead shift meetings and monitor SQCDI performance and department KPIs.
  • Drive Lean, 5S/6S, Layered Process Audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a safe work environment through audits, hazard reporting, injury investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, work instructions, ISO/ITAR requirements, and document-control standards.
  • Identify and resolve quality issues, scrap, production constraints, and process problems.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and support teams to determine root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Coach and develop Team Leads and employees while promoting accountability, cross-training, and operational ownership.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, performance reviews, attendance management, and personnel actions.
  • Oversee training documentation and maintain the department cross-training matrix.
  • Monitor equipment and tool use, cleaning, maintenance, and repair needs.
  • Provide real-time communication regarding production results and progress toward goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Business Management, Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Five or more years of manufacturing experience.
  • Experience leading or supervising employees in a production environment.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and root-cause problem-solving.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, coaching, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to set expectations, manage performance, and hold employees accountable.
  • Proficiency with SAP, including material movements, scrap, demand, BOMs, routings, and cost information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including creating charts and graphs.
  • Understanding of budget and cost performance.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and procedures.
  • Hands-on approach and willingness to participate in technical problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CNC machining or machine shop experience.
  • Experience with ISO- and ITAR-controlled manufacturing processes.
  • Experience using SAP for production and cost management.
