In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of semi-trailers for a small, independent private fleet, along with some third-party service coordination. This is a hands-on role requiring experience specifically with trailer systems. Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and problem-solve effectively.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs on semi-trailers, including floors, doors, panels, roofs, suspension, and frame components.
- Service and repair air systems, air brakes, and landing gear.
- Repair trailer lighting and electrical systems.
- Perform trailer interior and exterior repairs.
- Conduct regular DOT inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Diagnose mechanical issues accurately and implement effective solutions.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
- Maintain parts inventory and ensure cleanliness and organization in the shop.
- Collaborate with team to diagnose problems and plan repair schedules.
- Move equipment in and out of the shop as needed.
- Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License REQUIRED.
- Class A CDL is preferred. Company may assist in obtaining within 180 days of hire if desired.
- High School Diploma or GED REQUIRED
- Prior hands-on experience repairing semi-trailers REQUIRED.
- Must have own tools and be willing to purchase tools required for the job.
- Ability to diagnose issues accurately and implement effective solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
- Familiarity with DOT compliance requirements.
- Must meet qualifications to perform DOT annual trailer inspections and brake inspections per 49 CFR 396 Appendix G and 49 CFR 396.25, or be willing to complete necessary training to do so.
- Welding experience is a plus.
- Diesel engine knowledge is a bonus, but not required for this role.
